I used to think that making my annual predictions to the upcoming baseball season was one of the rites of passage to being a true baseball fan. Nowadays, I see making baseball picks as logical as trying to gauge how many bites it would take to fully consume my dinner.
My friend Charles, however, spent a few moments today grilling me on my baseball picks. Charles just could not accept my insistence that predicting winners was unnecessary. Charles even said I was being silly.
All silliness aside, I have decided to make baseball picks for 2011, in honor of my good friend Charles Rich. Every team with an asterisk is a team I think could go to the World Series.

Bill Bill Bill,
ReplyDeleteSo I said I would not comment but I guess I kind of have to. As a "TRUE" Angel fan I always give the HOME team the benefit of the doubt since it is a new season. I think Texas will have a slow start which will open up the door for Angels. As for Oakland they have a great pitching staff but dont have any power in that line up, they are fielding a team that is fast but really strong hitters... It's like having a bunch of Alberto Callaspo's on the team. Little power but can hit. Mariners, don't need to say any more. My Predictions for AL West
Texas
Angels
Oakland
Mariners
With the Angels winning the Wild card! Maybe a long shot but I cannot put the Home team down before the season started. Sure we took on the 2nd dumbest contract in today's game (Silva from the cubs is 1st) but hey at least there is an upside for Wells. Look at Torii and what the green grass has done for him.
Let me know what you think
Danny
Hey Danny-
ReplyDeleteI do not necessarily disagree with you. As a true Angels fan, I am loyal to my team regardless of place in the standings. I realize that some seasons we will be good, and that other seasons we will not be good. I hope to be wrong about my prediction, but I just do not see that happening.
Though Oakland has mostly with punch-and-judy hitters, their hitters are also very disciplined, unlike our collection of free swingers.
And Texas' offense is loaded, they are good defensively, and I expect CJ Wilson to be even better than last year.
Anything can happen. I sure hope we surprise.
Yeah but when you go around and say awe the Angel's over paid for this guy or Angels didnt go get this guy or that guy. I mean it makes you sound like the season is over and were out of the running. The season hasnt even started yet and you are already counting them out of the running. Lets be optimistic and sure we my even end up in last place (God I hope not) but we all have the same chance to win in the beginning of the season.
ReplyDeleteDude I just want to see The HOME TEAM get back to form! And be a wining machine again. It does not feel good to see another team pull head of us and win the division. Although it did feel good that Lackey went to Boston for a winning chance at a post season and they TOTALLY missed it HA HA
ReplyDeleteCheers
Danny
Lets Go Angels
Lackey has been less than reliable since leaving the Angels. He will see that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
